Ms. Aska Aoshima is a licensed master social worker in New York State and has worked in clinical settings in the US, Japan and the Philippines. Her clinical experiences include work and training at community-based clinics dealing with diverse population and concerns, support services for at-risk families for child abuse, District Attorney’s Office for victims and survivors of intimate partner violence, and outpatient program for treatment of substance abuse. She also specializes in eating disorders and assisted many children, adolescents and adults with their treatment and recovery. In addition to working as a counselor, Aska served as Coordinators for Eating Disorders Program, Child and Family Services, and Child Protection Program, and conference and workshop speakers and facilitators on various mental health topics in the past.
Prior to becoming a counselor, Aska had a previous career in emergency relief work, international development and education, and has lived and worked in over 10 countries. She grew up in a mobile and expatriate family, and speaks fluent Japanese, French, English and conversational Spanish.
Aska is committed to promote mental health and wellbeing and to remove stigma associated with mental health issues. She would also like to make mental health services more available and accessible to the communities.
